All Roever's citations of Pholcus opilionoides (Schrank, 1781) in Crete (1928 & 1959) are considered here as Hoplopholcus labyrinthi (Kulczyński, 1903). According to Brignioli (1979) and Bosmans et al. (2013), these citations were erroneous. Bosmans et al. (2013), after the re-examination of Roewer’s material from Sarchos cave, they assigned all these citations to Hoplopholcus labyrinthi (Kulczyński, 1903) and excluded P. olilionoides from the spider's list of Crete as they didn’t collect it during extensive sampling. Furthermore, H. labyrinthi was misidentified in previous publications as H. minotaurinus in the caves of Megalo Katofygi, Koufota, Karoubes and Milatos (Huber 2020). The species is widely distributed in Crete, known mostly from caves.
